Scholars in Farming, a cornerstone program of Boys & Girls Clubs of Ghana, operates in the heart of Central Ghana’s Ekumfi District, where agriculture and fishing define daily life. Created to address the pressing issues of food insecurity and youth unemployment in the region, this program annually serves 25 young people through education on farming entrepreneurship. The program’s impact has been transformative, reshaping the perception of farming and fishing among the youth in the community. Secondary and tertiary students now recognize the value of acquiring skills to work on or even create their own farms, breaking down societal stigmas associated with these professions while earning a sustainable income for themselves. This initiative illuminates the path toward self-sufficiency and economic empowerment for the youth of Ekumfi District.
